Winter Plumbing Tips
Winter Weatherproofing? Try some of these simple winter weather proofing plumbing tips:
- Be sure to heat your entire house. Try to keep your doors open to allow air to circulate throughout your house.
- Try insulating your pipes to keep them from freezing. Use foam padding sleeves or special insulating tape. You could use newspapers or rags, but don’t use them on pipes that could get wet. This will cause them to freeze and you might be forced to hire a plumber.
- Keep any exposed pipes or plumbing fixtures warm. Try using space heaters or lamps, but make sure they are at a safe distance.
- Run water from every valve in your house at regular intervals.
- If it gets intensely cold, run a little water from each valve in the house. This will help keep your pipes from freezing.
